Applying Stylometry to Golden Age Spanish Poetry. Authorship problems in Fernando de Herrera\u2019s Poetic Works.<\/p>\n
Stylometry is well established in Digital Humanities as a discipline whose interest in facing authorship problems has been proved. However, there are still considerably less studies applying Stylometry techniques to Spanish Literature \u2013and especially to Poetry-, even though some periods as the Golden Age are famous for the abundance and significance of authorship problems suffered by literary works.<\/p>\n
In this talk, a state-of-the-art of Stylometry research to Spanish Literature will be firstly introduced, to present after that an application of these techniques to the dubious poetic works attributed to the Renaissance poet Fernando de Herrera (1534-1597), known as \u201cThe Divine\u201d and one of the most important Spanish writers of the moment, as well as the leading figure of Seville poets. The aim is to shed new light in a problem which has divided scholars for centuries and whose output could change our view not only of Herrera\u2019s poetic style but also of its role in Spanish Literary History as a bridge between the Renaissance poetry of Garcilaso de la Vega (1501-1536) and the Barroque style of Luis de G\u00f3ngora (1561-1627).<\/p>\n
